The Allen-Bradley Kinetix 5700 Servo Drives have several safety functions that are built-in to ensure the safe operation of the drive and connected equipment.

These include:

  • Safe Torque-Off (STO) allows the drive to be shut off quickly in the event of an emergency, disabling power to the motor and bringing it to a stop.
  • Safe Stop 1 (SS1) allows the driver to bring the motor to a controlled stop in the event of an emergency.
  • Safe Stop 2 (SS2) is a safety function that allows the driver to monitor the safety inputs and bring the motor to a safe stop in the event of an emergency.
  • Safe Limited Speed (SLS) limits the speed of the motor to a safe level in the event of an emergency.
  • Safe Brake Control (SBC) provides a fail-safe brake control to stop the motor in the event of an emergency.
  • Safe Direction (SDI) monitors the direction of the motor and brings it to a safe stop if it is moving in an unexpected direction.

Additionally, the Kinetix 5700 drives integrate safety-rated input/output (I/O) devices, such as safety relays, to monitor and control the machine's status and provide additional safety features.

The Kinetix 5700 drives provide advanced safety monitoring features such as safe speed, safe direction, and safe position monitoring. With these integrated safety features, you can eliminate electromechanical components and their associated wiring. To get these advanced safety monitoring features, be sure to specify the ERS4 module for your Kinetix 5700 axis module along with SIL2 encoders on your VP-series motors.
