This article describes the difference between the Series A and Series B Main Control Board for a PowerFlex 753/755

Units:

PowerFlex 753 (Frames 1-7)

PowerFlex 755 (Frames 1-7)

 

What is changing?

New Control Board Revision B and the Firmware Revision will start at R20

 

Concerns:

The Main Control Board Series "A" will only go to Revision 16. 

The Main Control Board Series "B" will start at Revision 20

NOTE: The Main Control Board Series "B" cannot be flashed below Revision 20

NOTE: In RSLOGIX 5000 or Studio 5000  if the Firmware Version 20+ does not show as an option in the AOP, go to Rockwell Automation Compatibility & Downloads Center to download the latest AOP for PowerFlex Drives.

 

Timeline:

September 2024 drives will be manufactured with series B MCB and R20 firmware.

 

Part Number Information:

The part number for the Series B main control board:

  • PowerFlex 753 = SK-R1-MCB2-PF753
  • PowerFlex 755 = SK-R1-MCB2-PF755

No changes to the PowerFlex 755 High HP Frame 8-10

  • Series A Main Control Board with Version R16
  • Main Control Board Kit = SK-R1-MCB1-F8
