What to Expect

The ES&E Technical Summer Camp is designed to provide practical, hands-on experience with the technologies used in modern industrial automation. Each session is instructor-led and built around real hardware and configuration exercises, allowing participants to apply concepts in a guided lab environment.

To ensure every attendee has access to the equipment and a quality learning experience, each session has limited seating. Early registration is encouraged.

Lunch & Networking

Lunch will be served daily from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM.

Participants registered for afternoon sessions are welcome to arrive early and join us for a complimentary lunch, providing a great opportunity to connect with other engineers, technicians, and automation professionals before the afternoon training begins.

Session Format

Each day of the Technical Summer Camp includes two identical sessions:

Morning Session 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM

Afternoon Session 1:00 PM - 4:30 PM

Both sessions cover the same technical content, allowing you to choose the time that best fits your schedule.

Because the training includes hands-on lab activities, registration for each session is limited to ensure participants have direct access to the equipment and instructors.

Session Topics by Day

Day 1: PLC Basics & Troubleshooting

Learn the fundamentals of PLC operation through hands-on exercises. Connect to a processor, upload and download programs, build a motor latching circuit in ladder logic, and practice troubleshooting common automation issues.

Day 2: Safety & IO-Link Smart Devices

This hands-on session introduces both machine safety systems and smart sensor connectivity. Configure GuardLink devices, set up CIP Safety communication, wire and troubleshoot safety relays, and learn how to configure and diagnose IO-Link masters and devices.

Day 3: ArmorKinetix & the Future of Integrated Motion

Learn how modern integrated motion technologies are simplifying machine design and improving performance. This session covers motion product upgrade paths and an introduction to ArmorKinetix.

Day 4: PowerFlex 755TS Basics

Gain hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting a PowerFlex 755TS drive. Explore the hardware, connect using Connected Components Workbench, review key parameters, and diagnose common drive issues.

Day 5: Stratix 5200 Network Switch Setup

Gain hands-on experience setting up a Stratix 5200 industrial network switch. Connect to the switch, run the Express Setup Wizard, and troubleshoot common networking issues.
