Can a Wye Start, Delta Run motor be configured to run on a VFD/Inverter?

This article describes how to setup a wye start, delta run motor to run on a VFD/Inverter

Yes

Assuming the voltage rating of the motor matches the drive, the motor should be wired as delta.

The wye start, delta run motor was designed to be started in a Wye configuration to limit inrush current and then transfer over to the Delta configuration after a period of time. Since the drive already limits inrush current through Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) from the IGBTs, the motor should be wired to Delta.

NOTE: This rule does NOT apply to true dual voltage motors (230V:460V).

NOTE: Verify the motor and cabling is inverted rated!
