Using Brake Chopper or Regen on PowerFlex 7 Class
How parameters need to be set for external brake unit on PowerFlex 700 or 750 Series
PowerFlex 70/700
Connect the leads of the chopper module to the drive’s DC + and DC - terminals. Disable the drive’s DC bus regulator by setting Parameter 161 [Bus Reg Mode A] to 0 [Disabled].
Note: Frames A-D of the PowerFlex 70 do not have DC - terminals, so they cannot be used with chopper modules. See 507186 - Brake Choppers on a PowerFlex 70.
PowerFlex 700S
Connect the leads of the chopper module to the drive’s DC + and DC - terminals. Disable the drive’s DC bus regulator by setting Parameter 414 [Brake/Bus Cnfg] bit 03 [Bus Reg En] to 0 [False]. Also, set Parameter 128 [Regen Power Lim] to -2 for 200% regeneration.
PowerFlex 750-Series
Connect the leads of the chopper module to the drive’s DC + and DC - terminals. Disable the drive’s DC bus regulator by setting Parameter 372 [Bus Reg Mode A] to 0 [Disabled].
