What is the difference between a Contact style sensor and a Non-Contact style sensor?
Limit Switch and Photoelectric sensors
A Limit Switch is a Contact style sensor, heavy duty can better handle adverse (dirty) conditions better. Usually can handle more current, typically easier to diagnose and understand.
Photoelectric and Proximity Sensors are non-contact sensors. No physical contact is required, can generally operate faster, and has greater application flexibility.
