Why I cannot set my external HIM as a Speed Reference on my PowerFlex 753/755?

This article answers the question about issues with setting the Speed Reference to the external HIM (typically Port 2)

Using the HIM or Network Communications as Speed Reference

Setting the speed reference in the drive to come from the HIM works slightly differently than for an analog input. Even though these adapters can reside in different ports, they report their references back to specific parameters associated with these ports in the main control board of the drive, or Port 0. These parameters are as follows:

Note:   Parameter 301 [Access Level] must be set to Advanced or Expert to select a reference other than Port 1

NOTE: If Parameter 301 (Access Level) is set for Basic, Port 2 Reference will not show up in Parameter 525 (Ref A Select) or Parameter 550 (Ref B Select)

  • Port 00, Parameter 874 [Port 4 Reference]: 750-series communications card mounted in port 4
  • Port 00, Parameter 875 [Port 5 Reference]: 750-series communications card mounted in port 5
  • Port 00, Parameter 876 [Port 6 Reference]: 750-series communications card or 20-COMM card mounted in port 6
